Job Overview
We are looking for two Junior Technicians to join our team in Gaborone. These positions are ideal for individuals who are passionate about technical tasks such as installation, maintenance, and providing on-site support for various equipment. As a Junior Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring that machines are set up correctly, troubleshooting and maintaining equipment, and ensuring that all activities comply with necessary regulations. Additionally, you will handle stock control and communicate regularly with the Technical Manager to report on the progress of tasks. If you are looking to develop your technical skills while working in a supportive and challenging environment, this is a great opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities
New Installations
As a Junior Technician, one of your primary roles will be assisting with new installations. These tasks will involve ensuring that all products are installed according to the required specifications and that they meet industry compliance standards. You will also need to ensure that the overall appearance of the products aligns with the brand image. This is an important task as a neat and professional setup helps maintain the company’s reputation.
Moreover, you will be responsible for ensuring that the site setup is done according to the required standards. This includes mounting compliance signs and ensuring the entire installation process is carried out without any issues. As part of the installation process, you will also install CCTV systems and test all machines on-site to ensure they are functioning properly.
Another significant responsibility is setting up the Evolution system for the machines. This will require you to be familiar with the system’s functionalities and ensure that all components are correctly configured.
Finally, you will be expected to report your progress to the Technical Manager, providing updates on the completion of tasks. This ensures that the manager is aware of any challenges or delays and can assist where necessary.
Housekeeping
Keeping the work environment clean and organized is a critical part of the Junior Technician’s role. A clean workspace is essential not only for maintaining a professional environment but also for health and safety. You will be expected to maintain the cleanliness of your work area, including the workshop and any areas that may be used for gaming or other operations.
Proper housekeeping is a key part of ensuring that the site remains compliant with health and safety regulations, which is crucial in the technical field where equipment and tools are often in use.
On-site Technical Support
You will also be expected to assist with various technical support activities on-site. Your role will involve ensuring that the tasks outlined in the project plan are being carried out effectively and on time. In addition to providing support on-site, you will need to prioritize tasks and respond to requests in a timely manner, ensuring that any issues are addressed as quickly as possible.
Another part of this role is reporting on the progress of tasks and escalating any complex issues to the Technical Manager as needed. This allows the team to stay updated on the status of ongoing tasks and ensures that more complex issues are handled by someone with the appropriate level of expertise.
You will also be required to handle complaints and disputes that may arise on-site, ensuring that they are addressed promptly and professionally. In some cases, you may be asked to assist with or perform technical callouts under the supervision of the Technical Manager. This may include providing technical assistance or troubleshooting on-site issues.
Basic maintenance tasks will also fall under your responsibility. This can include performing tasks such as equipment fit-outs, installations, refurbishments, and even some electrical work. Additionally, you will be required to decommission equipment when necessary and ensure that all installations or changes to the equipment are thoroughly tested to confirm they are correctly configured.
Stock Control
Managing stock will be another key responsibility. You will need to keep accurate records of the spares used on-site. This includes updating stock usage forms whenever parts or tools are used. Proper stock control is crucial to ensure that inventory is always available when needed and that resources are used efficiently.
Failure to keep accurate records can lead to issues with inventory management, which can delay projects or cause equipment downtime. Therefore, it is important that you track and report stock usage promptly.
Compliance
As a Junior Technician, you will be required to ensure compliance with various standards and regulations. This includes adhering to Internal Control Standards (ICS) and Internal Control Procedures (ICP), which are essential for maintaining proper operations.
In addition to compliance with internal standards, you will need to ensure adherence to gambling authority regulations and other legislative requirements. The gaming industry is heavily regulated, so understanding and complying with these regulations will be a significant part of your role.
Maintaining cleanliness and safety within the workshop and gaming areas is another compliance requirement. Ensuring that these areas are clean and free from potential health and safety hazards will be essential to meeting the required standards.
You will also be required to complete maintenance registers accurately and on time. These registers need to reflect all malfunctions and maintenance work performed on machines (LPMs and DLs), ensuring that everything is documented as per legal and regulatory requirements.
An essential aspect of your role will be ensuring that the Central Electronic Monitoring System (CEMS) is updated whenever machines are commissioned, altered, or decommissioned. You will need to check that all machines are secure and comply with relevant standards, including ensuring that all power and data cabling is intact.
Another part of your compliance duties will involve reporting any issues related to the CEMS. You will need to check for any variances and ensure that these are addressed. Once these issues are resolved, you will return the necessary details to the Finance Department for further processing.
Reporting
As part of your role, you will be required to report on various issues and incidents that may occur during your work. This includes any problems you encounter with equipment, systems, or even health and safety concerns. It is important that you report these incidents promptly to the appropriate department or authority so that they can be resolved quickly.
Clear and accurate reporting is essential for maintaining smooth operations, especially when it comes to troubleshooting technical issues. By reporting problems as soon as they arise, you ensure that any potential delays or disruptions are addressed immediately, preventing them from impacting the project timeline.
