Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Business Banking Manager to lead our Business Banking division. This role involves managing client relationships, driving revenue growth, ensuring compliance, and leading a high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business banking, strategic thinking, and leadership.
Responsibilities
Client Management
- Ensure the Business Banking team has a thorough understanding of products, processes, and procedures to meet client expectations.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular engagement to identify cross-selling and onboarding opportunities.
- Continuously gather market intelligence to enhance processes, product offerings, and customer experiences.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the timely completion of client-related processes.
- Maintain up-to-date customer documentation and KYC requirements.
- Conduct training sessions on new Business Banking products to equip staff with the necessary knowledge.
Data Management
- Monitor industries where Business Banking clients operate to understand external influences on credit risk.
- Enforce compliance with legislative requirements, including KYC, within the Business Banking portfolio.
- Collect customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement in processes and offerings.
- Analyze the performance of Business Banking products and their contribution to revenue.
Financial Management
- Develop annual and quarterly targets for the Business Banking portfolio.
- Work with the collections department to recover revenues as needed.
- Prepare and manage operational budgets, ensuring alignment with delivery plans and addressing variances.
- Implement strategies to achieve revenue growth and meet financial targets.
- Stay informed on market trends and maintain a competitive edge in Business Banking.
Risk Management
- Ensure customers are onboarded responsibly, assessing their creditworthiness.
- Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Regularly update the Business Unit Risk Register to reflect risks associated with new products and customer feedback.
- Address audit findings promptly, ensuring closure of any identified issues.
People Management
- Lead the Business Banking division by setting a high standard of leadership and professionalism.
- Identify and maximize the potential of skilled personnel within the team to enhance customer experience and processes.
- Oversee recruitment and development of critical resources to support service delivery.
- Advocate for roles and structures that improve division outcomes.
- Engage with branch managers and staff to train them on Business Banking products and customer expectations.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Business, or a related field, plus a postgraduate qualification.
- Long-Term COP and Short-Term COP certifications.
Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a financial institution, including 5 years at middle management.
- At least 3 years in a business/corporate banking leadership role managing clients, relationships, balance sheets, and income statements.
- Proven experience in customer service and query resolution, with 1–2 years at a junior management level.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing business banking product initiatives.
