Overview

Bifm Unit Trust is seeking a qualified and dedicated individual to join our team as a Risk & Compliance Officer. The role focuses on implementing the enterprise risk management framework, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting governance within the organization. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Senior Risk and Compliance Officer to foster a risk-aware environment and ensure business continuity across Bifm holdings and its subsidiaries.


Responsibilities

Risk Management

  • Conduct annual money laundering and terrorism financing risk assessments for Bifm Unit Trusts and prepare approval reports.
  • Assist in risk assessments for Bifm Holdings subsidiaries.
  • Identify, assess, and monitor major risks across business units and subsidiaries.
  • Review and analyze incident reports to identify key risks and implement controls.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of business continuity testing and disaster recovery plans.

Compliance Oversight

  • Conduct KYC checks and enhanced due diligence for high-risk clients.
  • Perform Anti-Money Laundering (AML) assessments to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Deliver AML/CFT training sessions for employees, including new hires and refresher courses, and maintain accurate training records.
  • Ensure timely submission of regulatory documents, license renewals, product approvals, and other compliance-related requests.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure company operations align with relevant standards.

Governance and Reporting

  • Prepare and coordinate Enterprise Risk Committee meetings, including meeting packs and minutes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely regulatory reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports for senior management on compliance efforts and regulatory issues.
  • Report and resolve breaches in investment mandates or regulations proactively.

Data Privacy and Incident Management

  • Design and implement a data privacy compliance program by addressing gaps and threats to personal data.
  • Manage and respond to risk and compliance incidents, including conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Part-qualified CA with practical experience in auditing asset managers (internal or external audit) is advantageous.
  • Additional qualifications such as ACAMS or other compliance/risk certifications are highly desirable.

Experience

  • 3–4 years of experience in a risk or compliance role within the financial services sector.
  • Prior experience in asset management is an added advantage.
